Infant CPR

Birth to 12 months

Key Differences for Infants

  • • Use TWO FINGERS for compressions (not hands)
  • • Shallower depth: about 1.5 inches (4 cm)
  • • Cover BOTH mouth and nose when giving breaths
  • • Use gentle puffs, not full breaths
  • • For choking: use back slaps and chest thrusts

Important Reminders

  • • Infants often have respiratory problems before cardiac arrest - breaths are very important!
  • • If alone and must leave to call 911, give 2 minutes of CPR first
  • • Be gentle with breaths - small puffs only
  • • Do NOT tilt the head too far back - this can block the airway

App Permissions

To help you in an emergency, this app needs a couple of permissions. Here's exactly what's used and why:

Location

Used only when you activate the emergency location feature. Coordinates stay on your device and are never stored. Tap "Open Map" to send them to Google Maps so you can identify nearby streets or landmarks for the dispatcher.

Phone / Call

Emergency call buttons open your phone's dialler directly so you can reach services with one tap. No calls are made automatically.
